the natural world, everlasting through art
Welcome to Feather & Bone.
Taxidermy Artist/Owner at Feather & Bone Taxidermy, Emily Jellis
Feather & Bone was born from a lifelong love of nature and an enduring fascination with the hidden, magical worlds of animals. Raised on a steady diet of fairy tales and fables as an 80s/90s child, movies like The Secret of NIMH and the Redwall book series shaped a vivid imagination. Add to that an upbringing in the lush forests of Maine, and the result is a deep appreciation for the mystical, the dark, and the fantastical.
At Feather & Bone, the lost are brought back to life, reincarnated in ethereal scenes where nature and myth intertwine. Each piece tells its own story, offering an adventure or simply casting a light on the life and personality that lingers behind a pair of glass eyes. Whether traditional taxidermy or whimsical fantasy, the work draws on a wide range of styles: Victorian, anthropomorphic, articulated bone, religious, and ritualistic, with every creation inviting the viewer into a world of wonder.
As Beatrix Potter once said, “What heaven can be more real than to retain the spirit-world of childhood.” This spirit, both nostalgic and magical, is captured in every piece.
